| I need a receipt for taxes - how can I get one? |
| Answer: The SCYSA will send a tax receipt out in February of each year, just prior to tax time. For families without email access - we will mail the receipts.
2009 reciepts were sent out Feb 5, 2010 - please check your emails for that date to find yours (and check your spam filter). If you did not get one please send and email to coastsoccer@gmail.com.
Please note: 2009 reciepts are for children born 1994 and later. 2010 reciepts will be for children born 1995 and later. That is the government rule!

| Can a coach use players from younger divisions when they are short of players for a game? |
| Answer: This policy applies only to house teams above U9, and applies to both regular season play and tournament play. Teams in Divisions U9, U8, and U7 may not borrow players from a more junior Division. At the start of a match, if a team cannot field a full side, it may add a maximum of 3 registered players of the same gender from a more junior house team, provided the number added does not result in more than a full side. In other words, the team cannot gain substitutes as a result of adding junior players. If a player that belongs to the team arrives late (and there is a full team on the pitch), then one of the junior players must be removed at the first stoppage in play, and the late player will replace that junior player on the field. The coach of the team adding junior player(s) must contact the coach of the team from whom the junior players are drawn for permission to use them. The coach of the team adding junior players must also directly advise the coach of the opposing team, prior to the start of the game, that younger players have been added. The names of players added and the team(s) from which they are drawn must be provided to the referee, who will include them in the Game Report. No junior player may be used in this way more than 5 times in a season, not including tournaments. As in other situations where ineligible players participate in games, when a junior player plays for a more senior team other than as provided in this policy, that team will forfeit the game. If they lose the game, the score of the game will stand; otherwise, the score will be recorded as 1-0 in favour of the opposing team.

| How do I know if my credit card transaction was successful? |
| Answer: When you pay the registration fee by credit card you will get an email confirmation from Pay Pal stating that your credit card payment transaction was completed. If you did not get a confirmation from Pay Pal within a few minutes of completing the transaction, then it did not go though.
You will get a separate confirmation from the SCYSA informing you that your registration has been received - this confirmation will list all the children that you registered in the same session. You will get this notice whether or not your credit card payment was successful. If you do not get a confirmation from the SCYSA then your registration did not go through at all and you should try again.
|
| I got two registration notices. Did I pay twice? |
| Answer: No, the notices are for 2 different things. The notice from SCYSA confirms that you have registered your children – it will clearly list all the children you registered, their soccer district and division. The second notice will be from Pay Pal to confirm that your credit card payment was successful.
|
| What do I do if my credit card payment did not go through? |
| Answer: Once you hit 'submit' your registration has been sent to the SCYSA. You will recieve an email confirmation of your registration. If you choose to pay by credit card and that transaction fails (for whatever reason) you will then have to pay by cheque. Please mail your cheque to:
SCYSA
PO Box 215
Gibsons, BC
V0N 1V0
Please note that we are using a company called Pay Pal for credit card payments. They will send you an email that confirms that your payment went through.

| What do I do if no referee shows up for our scheduled game? |
| Answer: In cases where the referee does not show up, we suggest that you start by asking if there is any parent or spectator who has referee experience. If no one is available, the coaches from each team could referee half of the game each. The league regrets that due to a shortage of referees we sometimes cannot provide referees for every game. The Referee Scheduler tries to inform the coaches ahead of time whenever possible. Please report any ‘no-shows’ of referees to the league by email. Go to ‘Contact Us’ section to send an email.
|
| How do I report Scores? |
| Answer: The referee's will be submitting scores results for all teams. For complete instructions on “How to submit soccer scores”, please go to the ‘Referee Section’.
If a score is not updated or correct, please let us know ASAP. Make sure you give us the date, division, teams and field - there are over 40 soccer games each weekend so we need all the details. Please send score corrections to coastsoccerscores@gmail.com.
|
| What are the rules of the league? |
Answer: Please refer to the “Our Policies” section of the website for information about the SCYSA. If you want full FIFA rules, please go to: www.FIFA.com and look under “Regulations and Directions”.
|
| What do I do if my child ends up on a team that is not suitable? |
| Answer: Send an email to us explaining the situation. We cannot guarantee that we can switch players once they are placed on a team, but we will do what we can. Please remember that we have over 1000 children involved in soccer – it is not possible to please everyone, all the time.
We look at all requests on the same day in mid-September and honour as many as we are able - please send your request to: coastsoccer@gmail.com.
|
| How do you pick teams? |
| Answer: Children are first sorted into the appropriate division by age and sex. We then attempt to sort the names into teams according to school area selected on registration form and any special considerations on the application. The coordinator for the division figures out the teams and may call upon the registrar, coaches and others who know the children to help with this process. Parent have told us that they want their youngest children (U13 and under) playing with their friends nearest home possible.
